Emily Brinkman began riding as a child in Mississipi and later trained with Susan Lowe at If Only Farm in Ithaca, New York, in the 1990's. She graduated from Indiana University South Bend with a B.S. in Special Education. Emily has lived in the Traverse City region since 2001 and values her family along with her two young boys.
Shortly after moving to the area, Emily began riding at Northern Pines Farm in Maple City, MI. She was given the Assistant Trainer position in 2004 and excelled at teaching beginner and intermediate riders in lesson programs. She frequently took adult and children riders to horse shows and trained young horses. Emily also assisted with the Leelanau Schools riding program.
Emily participates in a variety of horse shows, and her students engage in horse shows locally and throughout Michigan - from non-rated one-day shows up to and including "A" rated 5-day shows. She also is pleased to help out those equestrian team members prep for their hunter/jumper ride, and guide those weekend riders through basic horse knowledge.
Emily's teaching specializes in equitation, hunters, and jumpers. Emily is a Certified Level II A.R.I.A Instructor in both the hunters and jumpers. She is also a member and Certified United States Hunter Jumpers Association Trainer. Emily also participates in the United States Equestrian Federation.
In 2008, Emily started Blue Oxer Farm, LLC. Currently located at Cold Spring Farm in Maple City, MI, Blue Oxer offers professional training, boarding, lessons and sales. Blue Oxer offers a detailed, courteous and family friendly enviornment while maintaining competitive service and rates. Come on over and see for yourself!
